San Miguel Castle
This spectacular Arabic fortress castle has a moat and a drawbridge and is located at the top of a small hill in the city centre, surrounded by the remains of the old wall. It is also an excellent place to enjoy a panoramic view of the city.
The ruins of an ancient Roman aqueduct of 4.3 miles in length can be found in the centre of Almuñécar. It was built in the First century AD out of slate masonry and nearby there are also the remains of Roman baths and burial items that were uncovered during archaeological works in the 1990s.
San Cristóbal beach
Just over half a mile long and with an average width of 50 yards, this beach with fine dark sand has a seafront promenade filled with shops and beach bars. On one of its ends are the so-called Peñones de San Cristóbal, three aligned crags that enter the sea.
